Song - Is it True?
By - Phil Laeger, for more info >> www.phillaeger.com
Phil describes the song...  "...my 18 month old has mastered the art of picking things up.  So much so that he loves to see just how much he can hold in his hands (and mouth) at one time.  :)  He gets frustrated when he can't hold all of his favorite things in his hands at one time.  The other day I was trying to explain to him that unless he first puts something down, he can't pick another thing up.  I think our hearts are much the same.  We'll never have all god wants for us unless we're willing to let go of the things that mean the most to us.  That's the message of this song."

Album preview -  I love you
By - written by Matt Leeder.  The band 'electralyte' has been together since September '04 but this particular song was written a while back now - it's probably 2 1/2 years old. All Matt was trying to write was a simple song of worship, confession and devotion to God - He had noticed a trend in his songs, that they had been getting really wordy and a bit over complicated so he stuck to the simple one verse lyric on purpose. Matt says, "I generally believe that the biggest stuff in life can normally be articulated in the shortest sentences - hence 'I love You'!"

Song -   Needy
By - words by & music by Marty Mikles
Comments - Have you ever been in that place, you know THAT place, where you can't figure anything out? where nothing makes sense with what you thought you were doing with your life? Every angle is different now, and nothing looks the same, every plan crumbled; every attempt at anything good on your own... nothing. PRAISE GOD that He doesn't need anything that we bring to the table... He only needs our sacrifice. We can see this in the company that Christ kept here on earth. Anything that was done through a life that was touched by God was done following a sacrifice. The only thing these characters did... let go... surrender. Surrender which led to consumption, consumption which led to boldness. I've just come out of THAT place, and on the way out, this song was born. Looking back on the journey, rough as it has been, my continual prayer has been and continues to be "take it all... all I have, take control of this, of me. I'm broken, and only you can put me together again, and when you're all done, CONSUME ME!". I hold on to nothing now. and neither should you.

Song -   Deeper into you
By - words by & music by Karyn Baker
Comments - The song was inspired by Ezekiel 47:1-12 and a deep need to be closer to God. Musically, it fits extremely well with Heather Clark's song "Deeper" - especially the bridge, which reads, "I can't stand this separation any longer" and the chorus which reads, "I want to go deeper and deeper, deeper and deeper, deeper and deeper with You....", etc. She's local to us here in BC, Canada, but that album ("Way Gone Place") can be bought online at http://www.worshipmusic.com/hcb003.html  (USD prices).

Song -   Simple
By - words by & music by Karyn Baker
Comments - While sitting down one day, I was thinking about all the many intricate facets of God's relationship with each of us, and after a few moments, came to the realization that it is all really very simple - He loves us, intensely and purely. Everything He has done for us and is to us is because He is, very simply, completely in love with us. (You'd think that revelation in itself would have been simple enough for me to see it long ago!) Our reaction is also very simple - we were created to adore Him. In eveything. Period.

Song -   Fly Away
By - words by & music by Karyn Baker
Comments - This song was written when thinking about the old negro spirituals - how songs were sung of heaven (like "I'll Fly Away") to encourage those in bondage on earth. We are still, in many senses, in bondage - bound to earthly bodies and sinful natures from which we will one day be completely free - I can't wait to see my Jesus and dance before Him 24-7!!

Song -   Dance Like David
By - words by & music by Karyn Baker
Comments - I love the term 'extravagant praise'. It encapsulates everything about what our worship should be, no matter what form it takes. There are two scriptures that scream extravagant praise to me - 2 Samuel 6:12-23 (David dancing before the Lord when the ark of the convenant returned to Jerusalem) and Luke 7:36-50 (Jesus anointed by a sinful woman). I hope with all my heart that my praise will always be both authentic and extravagant, even to the point of my own humiliation

Song -   Facedown
By - words by & music by Phil Laeger
Comments - This song was birthed out of my experience at a recent conference (Facedown). One theme was sort of unofficially "The Whoa and the Wow of God", coming from the passage in Leviticus 9, specifically at the end of the passage, where "fire came out from before the Lord and consumed the burnt offering and the fat on the altar. When all the people saw it, they shouted and fell on their faces." Kind of an odd combination, shouting and then falling on your face, but it was really good to hear Louie Giglio preach on us not forgetting how big God is in all of our songs about buddy-buddy friendship with Jesus. It was what I needed, a shot in the arm to get me fearing God again. We all need that healthy fear, that reverence as a balance to what privileged honor we have to be called friends of God. Thus, facedown was written. Specifically, the song was written from the thought of the first line. We were in the midst of musical worship at the conference, and I thought, while worshipping, "Man, THIS is an exalted place - to be able to kneel down at the foot of the King of Kings - Amazing!" So that's that about the song.
God is the forgiver of mistakes which cannot be corrected.
